POTD 03.08.19 - Stills day at Woodbine

Giddy up, it’s the long weekend!

The other day I set down the video camera and picked up the stills camera at the racetrack. I took some time to grab some images for Woodbine Entertainment. Kudos to the track photographer. Getting these kind of shots is not as easy as it might look. If you miss the perfect moment, that’s it, because the horses are long gone!

Here are a few of my favourite stills from that day.

2019 Queen's Plate Recap and New Inner Turf Feature

Two features I shot were used back to back on a TSN show that aired on July 10, 2019. I've uploaded the entire segment so you can see how it fit into the show. This programs purpose was to recap the recent Queen’s Plate race, show off the recently added inner turf course at Woodbine and tease the upcoming Prince Of Wales show at Fort Erie.

If you want to skip the preamble here are the time-codes for my features.

Social Media Break

I took a bit of a break from all things online. I haven’t been posted anything on any of my social media platforms since February… but worry not, I am still alive and still getting some shooting in. I’ve been focused on work, travel and fitness. I’ve got a lot of content I should probably share with you. I’ll start with a little project I shot for Woodbine Entertainment Group. It’s a short video I shot to promote the Kentucky Derby Day Party at Woodbine Racetrack. Inspired by those “Tasty” videos that you may have seen on Instagram or Facebook. This dish was created by Michael Mortensen, Executive Chef with Woodbine Entertainment Group. Shot on a Sony FS7 and GoPro Hero5.

Mr. Will's Path to the Plate

The 159th running of the Queen’s Plate is set for Saturday, June 30. I recently had the opportunity to shoot a few features with entertainment blogger Mr. Will Wong. The idea was to introduce new fans of horse racing to some of the the top contenders, as well as the unsung & unseen heroes that work behind the scenes. Here are a couple of these features.
