THP 3D Prints PPE for Frontline Staff

Shot for Trillium Health Partners.

As we continue working together against COVID-19, the world of health care has had to adapt quickly to deal with the widespread shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE). At THP, the Command Centre PPE Innovations Team is meeting that challenge head on, using 3D printers to create face shields and mask extenders for frontline staff.

COVID-19 Test Lab

I got to go in and check out the in-house COVID-19 test lab at Trillium Health Partners. Here is a video I shot there.

“Increased testing is vital to our combined efforts again COVID-19. Learn how THP’s Medical Laboratory is using in-house genetics expertise to do 300 COVID-19 tests per day, with results in less than 12 hours.“

Cat Stevens' Adoption Story // HBD Cat

Back a few years ago when I was working at a small time TV station in Winnipeg, Manitoba we would often do morning show segments featuring animals from the humane society. It was to encourage the people of Winnipeg to consider adopting pets instead of buying from a pet store. When shooting these segments I often got to choose the animals that would be featured. For one of these segments I was drawn to a cute, mild mannered, orange tabby named Izzy. During the shooting and in between segments I quickly grew attached to little Izzy. Shortly after the Morning Show was over I called up my girlfriend to ask her if she would be okay with us adopting a cat. She was on the fence about the commitment, but I was able to win her over. As soon as my shift was done I drove over to the Winnipeg Humane Society to pick up Izzy. He was such a good boy and I knew that I had to cruz over there as soon as possible. I was certain someone else would have scooped him up really quick. Luckily when I arrived he was still there. I filled out the adoption forms, renamed him Cat Stevens and from that point on our family of two became a family of three. HBD Cat Stevens!

Last Video Project Before Holiday

"To optimize the performance of personal protective equipment (PPE), it is important to ensure the proper donning and doffing procedures are being followed at all times."

This is one of the last projects that I worked on with Trillium Health Partners before I left for holidays at the end of February. Little did I or anyone else know how important this video would become in the coming weeks. It is pretty wild how much life has seemed to change for all of us in such a short amount of time.

Stay safe and take care!

More Fun Forever

I need to create more just for the heck of it. I’m not sure this is really a new year resolution or anything… I think it’s just more of a practice I would like to take up. I mean, why not? Life is all about farting around and that’s just what I’m going to do. Starting with this:

No money involved, not even my song, but I had fun making this none the less. I want to do the things that tickle my fancy, and you should too… the things that tickles your fancy that is.

TSN Woodbine Mile Feature - Meet Track Photographer Michael Burns Jr.

Meet Woodbine's legendary track photographer, Michael Burns Jr.

While at Woodbine Entertainment I’ve often found myself working in close quarters with Michael Burns, but I haven’t ever really had the chance to chat with him for any extended period of time. While shooting this feature I basically shadowed Burns for a couple days, so naturally we had a lot of time to talk. It was a great opportunity for me as a photographer to see how he works and pick his brain. I had a great time following him around and getting some insight into his daily workflow. Not only is he an amazing photographer but he is also a stand-up-guy.

I was blessed with some amazing light on a few of these shoot days which was really great, especially when you’re telling the story of a photographer. Below are a few screen grabs of the incredible light we were blessed with.

This feature was shot for the TSN Woodbine Mile Show which aired on September 14, 2019.
